NetBIOS

Network Basic Input/Output System or NetBIOS is a networking industry standard. NetBIOS often gets referred to as a protocol when in the strict sense it is an API. It was created in 1983 by Sytek and is often used with the NetBIOS over TCP/IP protocol.
